Fast Track North Wales (FTNW) works with partners across the region and with Fast Track Cymru to bring the Fast Track Cities initiative to the six counties of North Wales served by the Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board.
The large geographical area of FTNW presents unique challenges. The Health Board subdivides into three regions: East (Wrexham and Deeside), Central (mainly coastal towns from Prestatyn to Llandudno) and West (Bangor, rural Gwynedd including Eyryri, and Ynys Mon). FTNW stakeholders are drawn from across the regions, and aim to reflect the diversity of the area which ranges from the predominantly Welsh-speaking rural communities of the west to the culturally diverse communities of the east.
Fast Track North Wales signed up to the Paris Declaration on World AIDS Day 2023. Our aims and priority areas of work are:
● Increasing access to and uptake of HIV testing in a range of settings with a specific view to reducing late diagnoses and preventing onward transmission
● Increasing awareness of HIV to ensure people working in healthcare, the wider community and those at risk are aware of key messages including methods of prevention, diagnosis and treatment
● Tackling stigma related to HIV within healthcare and in the wider community.
