Introduction
Getting some peer support is a good way of dealing with stigma and self-stigma. Currently, apart from a group in Cardiff (see below), we don’t know of any independent peer support groups for people living with HIV in Wales – though we’d love to hear from you if you’d like to set one up locally or already have one. Online there are:
- the Positively UK at positivelyuk.org who have a wide range of services: https://positivelyuk.org/peer-support/
- and the THT forum.
“Living With It” is a community group for people living with HIVEvery third Thursday of the month at Cardiff Central Library Hub – for more information, contact: Bryony.Darke@cardiff.gov.uk

Cardiff, South Wales
In 2023, due to limited funding for support groups for people living with HIV in Cardiff, Central Library and the Community Volunteering Team at Cardiff Council, with support from NHS and Fast Track Cymru, started developing plans for an HIV Community Group in Cardiff.
Our first official session ran on the 19th of February 2024. Join the group on the third Tuesday of every month for our community group for people living with HIV or supporting those who do.

Tafod Positif (THT)
Offered by THT, Tafod Positif is the online peer support for people living with HIV in Wales and runs Wednesday evenings 6pm until 7:30 PM. To find out more about the service contact the Living Well team on livingwell@tht.org.uk , email joseph.chambers@tht.org.uk for an informal chat about the group and how to get involved. Further information is available on our bilingual website: https://tht.cymru/info-support/peer-support/
My Community (THT)
My Community is a free online space for people living with HIV to connect. Living with HIV is what connects this community, but members connect on a much broader range of interests. The platform is moderated by a team of trained volunteers based throughout the UK and supported by staff at Terrence Higgins Trust. To join visit: https://mycommunityforum.mn.co/about
