Wales HIV Advocacy Newtork

THIS PROJECT WAS COMPLETED.

What is the Wales Advocacy Network?

The lack of HIV-focussed community groups and peer support in Wales means that there is nowhere for people who are concerned about HIV to get actively involved. The idea of the Wales HIV Advocacy Network is to create an advocacy alliance of interested Welsh community groups and people living with HIV in Wales, providing opportunities to work together to increase community understanding of HIV and sexual health in Wales, prioritising key communities at risk, and achieve the 2030 target of no new HIV transmissions.

Who is it for

The Advocacy Network is for anyone wanting to get involved in HIV advocacy in Wales, particularly people living with HIV and groups working in communities with higher prevalence of HIV. We especially welcome those from diverse backgrounds and groups concerned with ethnicity, age, gender, sexuality and faith.

How can you participate?

  • Come to our advocacy network meetings (upcoming schedule below)
  • Volunteer with us at events and opportunities for participating in HIV advocacy eg. stalls at Pride events, Wales HIV Testing week, etc.
  • Download and print our free resources to share with your organisation/community, helping to spread the word about PrEP, U=U and other modern HIV information
  • Encourage your organisation/community to take our training on how to be a better HIV advocate, please get in touch to express your interest
  • Participate in and help co-create national HIV prevention and testing campaigns including Wales HIV testing week
  • Connect with the relevant Fast Track Cymru city in your area to participate in their creation and to help us ensure that relevant communities are working on the ground locally
